A gentle, brilliant man died peacefully at home in the dark of night, on Tuesday, May 2nd, 2023. By the following day, his sudden, unexpected passing was national news. Though experienced students when we married in 1965, within a few years, Peter Good had become a famous, internationally known, universally respected graphic designer.
Without him by my side, questions arose. Why am I still here? Why am I without him? What can I do without him? What am I without him? Who am I? What am I?
Even within a successful, equitable partnership, it’s easy to lose sight of oneself, especially in a culture when “man and wife” is the ready term for a couple.
On Tuesday, the second day of 2024, I searched for and found a young woman hiding in the basement. I carried her upstairs and placed her over a kitchen counter, hoping she could provide a few insights.
